The members of the FOTON Tri-Team

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Fortifying the brand’s name in the world of multisports, FOTON Philippines proudly sends out its FOTON Tri-Team to the upcoming Cobra Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship in Mactan, Cebu on August 5 to 7, 2016.

Despite being a relatively young team in the field of triathlon, the FOTON Tri-Team has already showcased full assertiveness in setting foot, and bagging awards in competitions by renowned marathon organizers such as Nike, Milo, Century Tuna, Punta Fuego and Alaska. Aside from these national fixtures, the team has also begun showing off their sharpened swim-bike-run skills overseas particularly in Singapore and Indonesia.

“At first, we found it difficult because it’s a three-sport event at a time. However, through our team’s self-discipline, dedication to training and of course one determination to finish the race, everything turns out easier.” says FOTON Tri-Team captain John Carl Roldan.

Boosting the team are multisport enthusiasts Jojo Vergara, Marlon Quidasol, Jephtie Dela Cruz and Diane Castillo. In the Iron Kids division, the FOTON Tri-Team is represented in the 9-10 year-old age category by Angel Faith Quidasol and Ken Aaron Dela Cruz; in the 13-15 year-old category Andrea Ramos, Clifford Banal and Jasper Sioson represent the car and truck brand.

“Aside from promoting a healthier lifestyle through these multisport activities, we also develop the spirit of perseverance and oneness. We race from the heart. That’s what truly matters.” added Roldan.

The Cobra Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship’s course includes a 1.9-kilometer swim at Shangri-La Mactan beach followed by 90-kilometer bike traverses in four cities in urban Cebu. Capping the activity is a 21-kilometer run along the roads of Punta Enngano lined with thousands of townsfolk cheering everyone.

“Being capable to join this triathlon is already a huge achievement for FOTON. It simply proves that we do not merely explore and excel in the line which the brand is known for—commercial vehicle production. We take the spotlight in sports as well, and now we’re starting to rove around this new recreational interest along with the prestige to wave the FOTON flag.” noted Roldan.

The FOTON Tri-Team is managed by United Asia Automotive Group Inc., the official distributor of FOTON vehicles in the Philippines. To know more about FOTON’s freshest updates on its events, visit and
