FOTON Philippines offers its deepest compassion to those affected by the devastating typhoon that ravaged the Philippines on November 8, 2013. After almost two years, some survivors of super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) still need social care after being traumatized by their great loss.

Toy Run is a humanitarian aid program committed to bring toys, school supplies, building rehabilitation, clothes, slippers, etc. including monetary support to the victims of the Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan. The program started December 2013 and went to the affected areas several times to provide aid. The name “TOY RUN” was adopted from the charitable work done by the late actor Paul Walker of the Fast & Furious movie fame. Paul was collecting toys and goods for the Filipino kids affected by the typhoon right before he died in a tragic accident. MP Turbo continues to provide care by conducting the 7th Toy Run.

FOTON Philippines graciously supported the 7th edition of the TOY RUN by lending the FOTON View Traveller Van and Thunder Pick-up. On April 23 2015, the trip started from Alabang and ended in Tanauan, Leyte. The Trip took more than 27 hours, which includes the ferry crossing at Matnog Port Terminal, food stops and refueling at gas stations. These 2 vehicles were loaded with 65 school chairs, boxes of toys/school supplies, magazines and clothes that were donated to 2 Barangays in Tanauan, Leyte. The journey covered more than 850 kms. of roads and dangerous traffic, with a lot of tragic accidents happening along the Pan Pacific Highway.

The long trip with a full load is a serious test for both vehicles. The Cummins diesel engine that powers the Thunder and Traveller has a reputation for long life, low maintenance and good fuel economy while towing heavy loads and these core characteristics appeared to match the trip conditions. The journey to Tacloban has been cozy and hassle- free for the crew and this proves the reliability of the FOTON vehicles. Toy Run Founder, Mike Potenciano said “We were amazed at how solid, reliable and strong both vehicles tackled the Toy Run 7 trip. There was no mechanical problem. We hope we can get Foton again to help us in the future and have recommended the vehicles to friends and curious on lookers. Kudos to Foton!”.
